These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of BetterAttachment (“the Service”), operated by First Commit LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Service, you confirm that you are at least 16 years of age and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.

2. Service Description

BetterAttachment is a journaling platform that uses artificial intelligence to help you understand your attachment style and relationship patterns. The Service includes voice journaling, document and scan uploads, AI-powered analysis, progress tracking, and optional social features.

Important

The Service is designed for self-reflection and personal growth. It is not a substitute for professional therapy, counseling, or mental health treatment. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact a qualified professional or emergency services.

3. Not a Medical or Crisis Service

BetterAttachment is not therapy, not medical care, and not a crisis service.

It does not provide diagnosis, treatment, or professional mental-health advice, and it is not a substitute for a qualified clinician. Attachment scores and written insights are generated by an AI model from what you write. They are reflective prompts, not clinical assessments, and they can be wrong.

Nothing you write here is monitored by a person. We cannot respond to emergencies, and the Service must not be relied on for urgent help.

If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, contact emergency services or a crisis line now — in the US, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), or text HOME to 741741. Outside the US, use your local emergency number or the IASP directory.

4. User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
You must provide accurate and complete information when creating your account.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. Content

Your Content

You retain ownership of all journal entries, recordings, and documents you submit to the Service (“User Content”). By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process, store, and analyze your User Content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

AI-Generated Content

Insights, scores, and feedback generated by our AI are provided for informational purposes only. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated content may contain errors and should not be treated as professional advice.

Shared Content

If you choose to share journal entries or insights through the social features, you are responsible for what you share. Shared content may be visible to friends or other users as configured in your settings.

6. Subscriptions & Payments

The Service offers free and paid subscription tiers (Starter and Pro).
Paid subscriptions purchased on the web are billed monthly by card through Stripe. Prices are shown in USD and may be subject to applicable taxes.
Payment is charged when you confirm the purchase. Your subscription renews automatically at the same price each month unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
You may cancel at any time from Settings → Billing. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period.
Subscriptions bought inside the iOS or Android app are billed by Apple or Google instead, and must be managed in that store's own subscription settings.
Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Please contact support for refund requests.
We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' advance notice.

7. App Store & Google Play Terms

The following applies where you obtained BetterAttachment through the Apple App Store or Google Play.

These Terms are an agreement between you and First Commit LLC only, and not with Apple Inc. or Google LLC. We, not Apple or Google, are solely responsible for the Service and its content.
Your licence to use the app is a non-transferable licence to use it on any Apple- or Google-branded device you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service or Google Play Terms of Service.
Apple and Google have no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. Support requests should be sent to team@betterattachment.com.
In the event of any failure of the app to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the app.
We, not Apple or Google, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product liability claims, any claim that the app fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection or similar legislation.
We, not Apple or Google, are responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of any third-party claim that the app infringes that party's intellectual property rights.
You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.

8. Prohibited Use

You agree not to:

Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
Upload content that is harmful, abusive, or violates others' rights
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other accounts
Use automated tools to scrape or extract data from the Service
Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity
Interfere with or disrupt the Service's infrastructure
Share your account credentials with others
Use the Service to harass, bully, or send unwanted messages to other users

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. AI-generated attachment scores and insights are approximations and should not be used as diagnostic tools.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES RESULTING FROM:

- Your use of or inability to use the Service
- Any unauthorized access to or use of our servers or your data
- Any errors or omissions in AI-generated content
- Any third-party content or conduct on the Service

Our total liability for any claims arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

11. Modifications

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict of law principles. First Commit LLC is organized under the laws of the State of New York.
